DRAFT LETTER

MNA’s Name
May is the International month of Awareness for three disabling illnesses: Environmental Sensitivities also known as Multiple Chemical Sensitivities (ES/MCS), Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (more commonly known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) and Fibromyalgia (FM).

I am one of the 300,000 Québécois struggling to survive due to the debilitating impact of these illnesses. These illnesses affect so many citizens that we are now the third largest disabling illness in Canada, second only to Diabetes and Heart/Stroke conditions.

There are more Québécois impacted by these illnesses than many other better-known conditions which receive millions of dollars for research funding and community services: including Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, Alzheimer’s and HIV/AIDS. You can visit the website for the Environmental Health Association of Québec (EHAQ) at www.aseq-ehaq.ca In spite of the number of people affected by these illnesses, there is still very little awareness or support or treatments available for those living with these illnesses.

I would like you, as my Member of the National Assembly of Québec to take the steps to learn about my illness and all the health services and supports systems that are needed by those of us living with these illnesses.

Sincerely,
Your name and Address
